Professional Bioptic Training

These pages provide information about bioptic driving processes and practices for professionals involved in the ecosystem. Reading the Churchill Travels blogs you will see there are some consistent professions and others depending on the type of systems and practice in that jurisdiction. The main professions BDA provides awareness and training information include:

- eye assessors: mainly low vision optometry who are the primary eye assessor group to do the clinical and functional assessment.

- orientation and mobility specialists: who teach visual scanning, use of the biopitc and on-foot training.

- driver training: that incluces the occupational therapy driving instructor.

About Dr Greene Henry Greene, OD, FAAO, is a graduate of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. From 1974 through 1977 he studied low vision rehabilitation at the Industrial Home for the Blind in Brooklyn, NY, with Dr. George Hellinger, an early pioneer in the field of low vision.
